Ski & Bogie Wheel Maintenance
Hello fellow snowmobilers.
It's that time of year again where we can't wait to dust off our sleds and hit the trails. Before we race to the trails, below is a basic reference on ski and bogie wheel preventative maintenance.
Check your wear rods to make sure these are still there and not completely worn through.. If the carbide is worn flush to the wear bar, it's time to replace these. We offer standard round bars with 60 degree carbides and our performance line, Stud Boy shaper bar series. (see links below)
Your carbide and spindle mount bolts / nuts should be tightened to 30 ft pounds. This is to prevent the holes from becoming wallerd out and eventually ruining the ski.
Using a jack stand or hoist, lift the rear of your sled so the track is off the ground. Spin the wheels (you may have to loosen your track) to ensure they spin freely and don't make a grinding noise or feel rough and need the bearings replaced.
Another way to ensure your bearings are intact is to grab on both sides of the wheel, tug back and forth to ensure the wheel is tight to the spindle or rear axle.

We hope to have covered the basics and help the beginners and also remind the vets so everyone has the most enjoyable experience possible this winter season.
If we left anything out or if anyone has any helpful tips, feel free to post them.

Cheers and Happy Trails.
